Terms of engagement

Draft — not yet confirmed by Helen. These terms are a starting point put together for review. Do not rely on them as final. Anything here can change, and the scope and fees in particular are Helen's to set.

What you can expect from Helen, and what she needs from you. Version 2026-07.

1. Who is engaged

Helen Parkinson, registered tax agent, of 6/31 Brighton Street, Freshwater NSW 2096. She works on her own. Where she needs to involve anyone else in your work, she will tell you first.

2. What the engagement covers

Preparation and lodgement of the returns and statements you ask her to prepare, and the advice directly connected to them. Anything outside that — an audit, a dispute with the ATO, advice on a transaction you are considering — is a separate conversation and may be charged separately. She will tell you before doing work that falls outside this.

3. What she is responsible for

Helen is bound by the Code of Professional Conduct under the Tax Agent Services Act 2009. She will act honestly and with integrity, act lawfully in your best interests, take reasonable care to ascertain your circumstances and apply the taxation laws correctly, keep your affairs confidential, manage any conflict of interest, and respond to you in a reasonable time.

She will tell you if anything happens that would significantly influence your decision to keep engaging her.

4. What you are responsible for

5. Your documents

Documents you send through this website go into encrypted storage only Helen can open. She downloads them into her own records and removes them from the website once they are filed. Nothing is emailed. She keeps the records she is required to keep, for as long as she is required to keep them.

6. Fees

Helen to complete. How fees are calculated, when invoices are issued, and payment terms.

7. Ending the engagement

Either of you can end it at any time, in writing. Work done up to that point is payable. Helen will provide the information a new agent reasonably needs to take over.

8. Complaints

Raise it with Helen first on 02 9905 4997. You can also complain to the Tax Practitioners Board at any time, whether or not you have raised it with her. See your rights as a client.

9. Limits

Nothing in these terms limits, excludes or modifies any obligation Helen has under the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 or any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law. A registered tax agent cannot contract out of those, and this does not try to.
